ref. de Guillebon ‘Faience et Porcelain de Paris’ p336 for a description of the firm, running 1802-1823(?), and illustrating a part teaset from c.1815 with superb gilding. They describe Blerzy & Sauvage as a decorating studio, buying their blank white porcelain from Christian-Joseph Deuster at Rue Folie Mericourt, opening in 1797 and going bankrupt in 1804. During this time they were apparently a major supplier of white porcelain to Paris decorating firms – see p 159. Unfortunately, they did not mark, but if this coffee can is indeed one of theirs it would date 1802-04.
