Fine quality blue sprigged drybody mug, the finely potted piece with tapering footrim, applied with detailed bachanaic scenes spaced by trees, a classical flower frieze to the rim, the handle with shell moulded attachments.
9.5cm high, 12.5cm wide
ref. Henrywood ‘British Jugs’ p109 for a jug with this same unique sprigging: “…by an unknown maker 1815-30. Although unmarked, this jug appears to be closely related to others bearing the rectangular pad mark.”
