Superb Herculaneum (Liverpool) porcelain plate, finely painted with a garden landscape with sunflowers & hollyhocks, the center filled with flowers spilled from an overturned wicker basket including tulips, daffodils and lilac, the rim with a finely gilt border of convolvulus.

Peter Hyland- ‘The Herculaneum Pottery, Liverpool’s Forgotten Glory’ pl 150 for a tureen from this service, pl 156 for a garniture of vases with painting by the same hand. Another pair from the same service are to be seen on an English dealer's website. An apparent 'pattern number' to the base of some is 899, not visible on this example.
