Unusual Minton urn, with large panel of flowers on a marble table by Thomas Steel, reserved on a bright pink ground, with twin Bacchus mask handles & square plinth thickly gilt, the reverse with a fine classical motif, the rim beaded. Unmarked, painters symbol beneath, circa 1825

The shape doesn't appear in the literature. The attribution to the masterful artist Thomas Steel can be made through the superb attention to detail, and the composition on a marble table was a favourite of his. ref. Godden 'Minton' pl114 for a similar composition attributed to Steel.
