Norwegian carved wood ‘ambar’ or ‘butter churn’, stave made & bound with thin wood stays, the whole carved in low relief with scrollwork to the lid forming a handle, and animal-head shaped ‘lock’ pin.
Antique condition, signs of bright colours

This interesting over-sized vessel was used for transporting the special creamy porridge eaten at Norwegian weddings and special occasions.
