Ridgway plate, the eight-lobed form superbly painted with a large central pattern of Rococo figures in a landscape, known as ‘Watteau’ in factory records, the rims with wide bands of gilt scrollwork reserved on a bright ‘Coral’ ground.

A centerpiece documented by Godden had the pattern number 6/4946, and is illustrated on 226, along with another plate p229.
This plate is arguably one of 6 on display there – expensive ‘samples’ that may not have gone into everyday production.
