marked to the top “Thos. Townsend & Co. / London” with Royal Arms & Crown, also ‘Established 1778’.

Condition: some wear to edges & signs of age, slight wrinkles to the sides, displays well, interior kidskin lining is stained, silk lining is perished & fragile
Townend & Co was a larger ‘hatter’ of the mid-Victorian period, and boasted of multiple London outlets in fashionable streets. They also called themselves ‘Hatters to the Royal Family’.
