Benjamin John Ottewell was well respected as a professional water colour artist, especially after a chance encounter with Queen Victoria led to her becoming a regular patron of his; several are still held in the Royal Collections.
This work is a superior example of his watercolour skills, and is in excellent condition with little evidence of fading.
