Bloor Derby basket and stand, with both Derby marks, 1820-25
$1,250.00 AUD
Impressive Derby porcelain basket & stand, the whole carefully pierced & with applied pink & green daisyheads to the junctions, the twig handles ‘attached’ with leaves and flowers naturalistically coloured, the rims with mazarine blue band finely gilt with sprays of leaves & gilt line rims.
Stand with red crown & batons mark,
the basket withred printed ‘Bloor Derby’ circle,
circa 1820-25
10cm high
25.5x18cm
Stand 24.5 x 22.5cm
Good condition with no restoration, stand with only very minor crazing & faint discolouration, the basket the same with only some flower petals & leaves chipped, excellent display condition.
The dating of this piece is interesting, as the two clearly were painted at the same time, but they have different marks; they date to the ‘crossover’ period between Blood & the earlier Derby management. The red crown & baton mark ends in around 1825, while the Blood printed mark begins to be used in around 1820: this basket therefore dates to 1820 – 25.
