Bow bell shape mug, rose flower sprigging, c.1755
Bow tankard of small size, the bell shape with slightly flared lip and grooved strap handle with spade shaped terminal, sprigged with a large flowering rose plant, with a smaller specimen either side. Unmarked, circa 1755
Fine condition, small hairline at lip, firing flaws, bruise to foot
This small baluster form is unusual, and combined with the rarely seen rose sprigging, makes this a rarity. ref. Treasury of Bow #156 for a cup with this sprigging, where it is noted it matches a shard from the factory discovered in 1867.
