Bow figure of ‘Spring’, modelled as a girl holding a basket of flowers, c. 1765
$595.00 AUD
Bow figure of ‘Spring’, modelled as a girl standing against a low tree stump, holding a basket of brightly coloured flowers, a sash of flowers draped from her right shoulder to her left waist, with more flowers on the low rounded mound base.
Circa 1765
13cm high
Condition: repairs to the flowers in hands, basket handle, otherwise good condition.
The placement of the sash from right-to-left indicates a girl; similar figures of children with the sash left-to-right represent boys: a modern day relic of this idea is the direction a shirt buttons from.
