Bowers part teaset, C. 1850
Sold
Bowers part tea set, the bodies moulded with acanthus leaves, printed & painted with flowers within a pale blue rim with gilt highlights.
Printed mark ‘Dresden Wreath’, with iron red painted ‘293 Worcester’ disguising the original makers name, G. F. Bowers.
Circa 1850
Condition- restorations and staining, not usable
An interesting mark with ‘improvements’ – the use of ‘Worcester’ to block out Bower’s name is most puzzling. George Frederick Bowers & Co operated from the Brownhill Works, Tunstall, Staffordshire, 1842-68.
