Bowers cake plate, moulded with acanthus leaves, printed & painted with flowers within a pale blue rim with gilt highlights. Printed mark ‘Dresden Wreath’, with iron red painted ‘293 Worcester’ disguising the original makers name, G. F. Bowers. Circa 1850

An interesting mark with 'improvements' - the use of 'Worcester' to block out Bower's name is most puzzling. George Frederick Bowers & Co operated from th Brownhill Works, Tunstall, Staffordshire, 1842-68.
