Celadon flower-carved bowl, Korean, Goryeo Dynasty, 13th-14th century
$645.00 AUD
Celadon glaze bowl, heavily potted with thick foot rim, the interior carved with a central spiral and flowerhead border to the rim, the outside with distinct ribbing and ‘chattering marks’.
Korean,
Goryeo Dynasty,
13th-14th century
17cm wide
some wear, minor rim chips
The construction is heavy, and the glaze thin, leading to a Korean attribution. Potters in the Goryeo (Koryo) dynasty (918–1392) drew inspiration from neighbouring products from the Song dynasty potters, but their execution and colouring differs.
