The impressed ANCHOR / LONDON mark is an interesting study, examined by numerous scholars over the years: current assessment is it is a ‘shared’ mark used by numerous Northern potters to indicate a London-trade destination for the goods.
An excellent website with a discussion & examples is matesoundthepump.com – dedicated mainly to Sunderland plaques, it includes an example with the same distinct border as this example, with the same variation of the impressed LONDON (note space between N and D) – with a mark including ‘B&Co.’, identified as J Burn & Co. , active 1852-60.
