Superb quality Chinese Export double handled cup, painted with a roundel to either side containing the initials ‘ACA’, surmounted by a pair of doves, one with a ring in its beak; flanked to either side with four detailed insects including a blue fly, dragonfly, and butterfly, the handles moulded as dragons.
Circa 1765
The combination of 3 initials, and 2 doves (1 with a golden ring in its beak) suggests this is a marriage piece – A + C being the husband/wife, A the common surname.
