The Colima Culture of Mexico flourished 2200 – 1500 years ago. Dogs were very popular, and they are well represented amongst the fabulous ceramics that survive.
In their culture, dogs were a source of life – associated with healing, providing food, and undying loyalty. As a result, they were popular tomb offerings, often placed with food for the afterlife.
