References | Ref. Lockett & Godden, 'Davenport' p80 for an example, described as 'very rare'. There is another shape of tureen (illustrated p79) with the same decoration, and it is probable that these were all part of one ornithological service. Another similar service was painted by the 'Hyphen Painter', and the bird images were identified by Moorabool Antiques in 2016 as coming from a 1798-1802 publication, Harrison's 'The Naturalist's Pocket Magazine'. This was in relation to the 'Black-Swan-of-New-South-Wales' plate, and while this is the same manufacturer, it is not by the same artist and probably from a different service. |
