This 6th century temple is located at the center of Athens, and was the largest in Greece. Begun in the 6th century BC, it wasn’t completed until Roman Emperor Hadrian did so in the 2nd century AD. 100 years later it was pillaged by barbarians, and never repaired; being in the center of Athens, it was a handy source of ready cut building material, and only the 16 columns shown here survive.
René Joly de Beynac, landscape painter, was a pupil of J. Lefebvre and TR Fleury. He exhibited in Paris, at the Salon of French Artists
