Dr Wall Worcester teapot stand, decorated in a highly decorative style in pink enamels with a stylised flower group pattern, including two thistle-like sprays within gilt rococo c-scroll & ‘ladder’ frames, spaced by two larger groups with scattered sprays & curious insects.

Unmarked, circa 1770

Excellent condition with little wear.

 

This fluted octagonal stand was borrowed from Chinese Export dishes of the early 18th century.

 

ref. Zorensky p376 #474-6  for examples of similar Worcester, suspected of being decorated outside the factory – ‘likely to be the work of an independent decorator’ – but not James Giles….
