Early Staffordshire figure of a gentleman gardener with spade and bunch of grapes in his hands, dressed in a turquoise cloak and yellow pantaloons, on a earthy mound with square plinth titled ‘Earth’.
Circa 1810

20cm high
the base restored, shovel handle a replacement, chip at front of hat old restoration, slight touch-ups to enamels which are flaked; surprisingly, both hands are perfect.

This type of figure is attributed to Ralph Wood, a characteristic being three lines of brown on the base, the back being blank.
