Fine early Staffordshire figure, depicting John Liston playing ‘Paul Pry’, depicted in his charming busy-body act wearing a smart yellow top-hat & gloves, and blue striped trousers, a marbled pillar at the back providing support, on a low plinth base with ochre lines around the edges.
Impressed with a small target symbol,

Condition:
Paul Pry is a comedy by John Poole (1786/7-1872) in three acts. It was first performed on 13th September 1830, with John Liston as Pry, Madam Vestris as ‘Eliza’.
