Elaborate Scottish fireside trivet, ‘Kirriemuir 1869’

Interesting Victorian brass and cast iron trivet, the sliding brass stand pierced with ‘brickwork’ framing central engraved scene of Tam O’Shanter and Souter Johnnie, after the 1791 poem by Robbie Burns, depicting them in conversation with drink in hand, bottle on a table to the centre, the iron frame with elaborate cast iron fender support.
Engraved plaque beneath handle ”MRS LAWSON/ Wellbank House/ KIRRIEMUIR/ 1869”
Condition – Good with signs of use
According to ancestry sites, the ‘Mrs Lawson would have been Margaret, 1814-70. Wellbank House in Kirriemuir still exists- a long farmhouse now divided up into several homes.
Margaret died the year after this was presented to her.
