good condition with minimal wear, multiple firing faults to paste, handle is perfect, uncracked & not restored!

This interesting English Bone China basket is a rare survivor, and a puzzling piece when it comes to attributing the maker.  It has a great design, but is poorly executed: the paste is full of impurities, and it has mis-fired considerably, leaving bulges and rifts. There must have been considerable loss in this factory’s firing results. The decoration lacks detail, having an amateurish appearance.
While a similar design – including a double-branch handle joining in the middle – can be found at major factories such as Chamberlains Worcester, this piece is probably the product of an ambitious small concern in Staffordshire in the early 19th century, where ambition outweighed their abilities…. and is quite charming as a result!
