English porcelain mug, well painted to either side with large bouquets of ‘Lily-of-the-Valley’ and roses, the front with a gilt ribbon inscribed “Edith Deane Sprawson ” .

Edith Deane Sprawson was born Somerset 1872, died 1954, buried in Bath. The date of her birth is a match for the mug, with the decoration and porcelain type typical of one of the better makers in the 1870’s. It was therefor a ‘birth-mug’.
