English pottery mug of reasonable size, printed in underglaze blue with a Chinoiserie pattern known as the ‘Mongol Huntsman’, including figures in conversation and in gardens, either side with a circular panel containing the pattern’s namesake, a figure standing with a falcon on arm, a dog at feet, the rim with a fancy scroll & flower border, the whole picked out in iron red, green & yellow enamels.

This unusual pattern appears on a small number of marked or attributed examples, with Rathbone being a strong contender for this piece.
