Rare English saltglaze ‘House’ teapot, modelled as a classic three-story Georgian mansion, one side with large British Royal coat of arms above the door, the other with a lion & fleur-de-lis, the spout a serpents head with a bird moulded up one side, the lid with a bird’s beak finial.
Circa 1745
Condition: lid is entirely a restoration, cast from another example of the same period and therefore very accurate; small chip to rim restored, crack along front step & door to side with animal above doorway, displays very well/
Old collection label reads ‘Staffordshire Creamware about 1700’
