Rare Fox Head stirrup cup, the white earthenware vessel naturalistically modelled with a mischievous look, finished with a white band rim with gilt line.

Condition: Ears overpainted, apparently broken off & reattached, otherwise good
A ‘Stirrup Cup’ was the vessel you had a swig of whiskey from before setting off on the foxhunt: it has no way of setting it down, so while astride your horse, your footman would fill it & pass it up to you: then tally-ho! You were set for a fun chase.
