French porcelain jug, oversize with flower panels, c. 1845
Sold
French porcelain jug of large size, moulded with oak leaves stemming from a rustic branch handle, the leaves in claret on a green ground, painted to one side with large flower groups, the other inscribed in gold ‘M. Worrell’ .
Inscribed ‘22’
Circa 1845
24cm wide, 24cm high
minor wear to gold
An old label beneath speculates this could be ‘Tucker 1825’, meaning one of the scarce American porcelain firms; however, direct comparison with an example in the Rosenberg Collection, Geelong, reveals it is quite different and very much ‘Paris hard paste porcelain’ .
