German painted papier mache snuffbox, allegorical figures, early 19th Century


Well painted German papier mache snuff box, with a rim-to-rim scene in oils of a lad with a bunch of flowers presenting them to a lass, a church steeple in the background, a nursemaid with a baby to the left and two children at their feet, one with a spear/arrow (cupid?) , and a small white dog leaping up.
Inscribed inside lid ‘6. Das Lied von der Glocke’
(‘The Song of the Bell’ )
Circa 1820


Small repairs to foot only, paint is good with very minor flaws
