William Ralston (1848-1911) was born in the UK, travelled to Australia as a young man where he sketched scenes such as this, which were later published in his return to England. His main career was in Glasgow as a photographer.
”The Graphic” was, as the name suggests, a British publication that focussed on plenty of illustrations to inform the reader. It was founded in 1869.
