Historical figure of Henry VIII,

made from parts of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, with lead & stone recovered after the 1940-41 Blitz raids of WWII caused damage to London’s heart,

the figure cold-painted & inscribed to the back ‘CAST IN LEAD FROM THE /  HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT’

the Portland Stone square base inset with an enamelled silver tone medallion inscribed ‘THIS STONE CAME FROM THE HOSE OF PARLIAMENT 1941’ around a depiction of the clock tower known as ‘Big Ben’.

Made by ‘The London Stonecraft Co’, London 1941, and sold to raise money for the HRH Duke of Gloucester’s Red Cross and St John Fund.

 

22cm high, base 17x17cm

Good condition. with minor signs of age, displays well.
