Hoi An shipwreck, Vietnam, bowl with underglaze lotus pattern, late 15th century
Blue and white bowl, delicately painted to the outside with a continuous band of blossoming lotus on a scrolling stem, a band of geometric lappets to the base, the interior with a foliage border, the center with a ‘phuc’ symbol meaning good luck.
