Japanese Satsuma charger, decorated with three large Folklore panels, the upper fan shape with children playing around a cart of flowers, some with instruments, some reading; the left ‘folded print’ shape with a figure riding an umbrella over the sea, a figure on a dragon in the background, and a heart shape with courtly ladies singing & dancing in a palace interior,; the whole on a finely detailed brocade ground. Unmarked, Meiji period, c. 1880
