Large & impressive Chinese pottery figure of a foot soldier, modelled freestanding with one arm raised to take a spear, dressed in typical heavy coat and baggy trousers, boots to his feet, the details picked out in black & orange pigments, the head with a pale slip & black detailing.

Condition: still with some earth, original pigments surviving, some tool marks from excavation, no restoration or repainting.
Mounted on a bespoke acrylic stand (typical of New York mounting in the 1980’s-90’s)
Provenance: old Sydney collection put together last century.
