Large Solomon Islands Tomako – War Canoe – with inlaid pearlshell decoration, the prow and stern with high post structures, the stern with a Nguzu Nguzu face beneath a tuft of coconut fibre, the support with pierced fish design.

Comes with a bespoke metal stand  

These large war canoes were used throughout the Solomon Islands, with regional differences. They could hold up to 50 people, and the single tapered hull could be propelled through the water very fast with enough paddlers.

The 2012 visit of Prince William & Catherine featured them being rowed around in a magnificent example of a Tomako.
