Two lines cut across the mark indicates that this plate was classed as a “second” (the tiny iron spot on the reverse), and was decorated outside the factory. The quality of decoration indicates a factory-trained artist. The factory artists were permitted to buy undecorated items, decorate them and sell on their own account.
