Meissen plate with ‘New Spanish’ moulded rim, flowers, c.1760

Sold

Meissen dinner plate of ‘New Spanish’ with scroll moulded rim, feathering to the edge, brightly painted with flowers within the three reserves, a larger spray to the center, the rim in pale brown.
Crossed swords & ‘.’ mark,
circa 1760

24cm
very minor wear to enamels

An interesting detail of these plates is the absence of gold to the rim or decoration; this allows us to date it to the ‘Seven Years War’ period when such resources were scarce, 1756-63.
