Fujian province,
Wanli reign,
Circa 1600
21cm wide, 10cm high
Condition: small rim chips, glaze is excellent with signs of extensive usage
Provenance: collected in Indonesia in the 1980’s, Australian Private Collection
References: Identical examples came up from the Binh Thuan shipwreck, which is dated to 1608. This bowl has a much more vivid blue and superior painting to most Binh Thuan pieces, and a lustrous glaze, unlike the majority of the wreck pieces which had their glaze affected by the sea water.
