Hand painted miniature on ivory, depicting Napoleon Bonaparte’s favourite sister, Pauline Maria Bonaparte Leclerc Borghese, (1780-1825), the ‘Princess Borghese’, Princess of Guastalla, Princess Consort of Sulmona and Rossano, after the 1806 portrait by Robert Lefèvre (1755-1830), once in the Victoria & Albert Museum, now to be seen in the Wellington Collection at Apsley House, this example set in an ornate filigree ormolu frame.
