William De Morgan was a good friend of Willaim Morris, and produced numerous designs for him. He also ran his own Studio Pottery, and developed a following for his splendid re-creations of the ancient ‘Hispano-Moresque’ lustre designs inspired by 15th century Spanish wares. This design is similar to some of his copper lustre designs.
