New Zealand lithograph – Te Puni, by Barraud 1877
Lithograph of a Maori chief, titled ‘TE PUNI’, show standing with patu club in hand, wearing a long woven garment with feather cloak over.
From Barraud’s ‘New Zealand Graphic and Descriptive’,
published in London by Sampson Low Marston in 1877.
Condition: good, recently conserved, the edges of sheet with some wear & minor small tears, but nothing penetrating the mount / image area.
note: still part of the complete page, with ‘RANGIHAIETA’ the companion print next to it on the same sheet; can be separated to mount & frame, but would then lose the lithographer’s name along the central base.
