This is an unusual class of Nyonya (otherwise known as Peranakan – Straits Chinese) porcelain, with the addition of gold over blue & white. In straights Chinese porcelain a collectors guide by ho wing Meng, P.122, several pieces illustrated are from Penang, said to have belonged originally to a large set specially commissioned by a wealthy Straits Chinese family for its own use.
