Paktong is an interesting alloy of zinc, copper and nickel, developed by the Chinese in the 18th century or earlier. It has a distinct whiter look due to the nickel, and the Chinese name ‘bai tong’ reflects this, translating as ‘white copper’.

References | Paktong is also known as 'White Copper', and is indeed an alloy which includes a quantity of the whitish metal Nickel, some Zinc, and mostly Copper. The result is a silvery metal that takes a lot longer to tarnish than Copper or Brass. It has traditionally been made in China for centuries. |
