Paktong metal Chinese teapot of globular form with butterfly handles, decorated with a poem to one side, flowers to the other, the interior with a tinned infuser fitting.

Paktong is an interesting alloy of zinc, copper and nickel, developed by the Chinese in the 18th century or earlier. It has a distinct whiter look due to the nickel, and the Chinese name ‘bai tong’ reflects this, translating as ‘white copper’.

References	Paktong is also known as 'White Copper', and is indeed an alloy which includes a quantity of the whitish metal Nickel, some Zinc, and mostly Copper. The result is a silvery metal that takes a lot longer to tarnish than Copper or Brass. It has traditionally been made in China for centuries.
