Rare Coalbrookdale cast iron umbrella stand, modelled as a dog standing on its rear legs, holding a hunting crop in its mouth, the loops forming the umbrella & stick holder; the plinth beneath with moulds leaves, with drip pan and base support formed as overlapping leaves & vine tendrils.
Fully marked, with registration diamond for 1852, also ‘No. 85297’, and ‘No.14’.

Coalbrookdale was the ‘premium’ brand name in Victorian England, producing a vast range of the finest quality cast iron items. This design can be found in the 1875 ‘Coalbrookdale Castings Catalogue’, section II, No. 214 (p233).
