Born in 1879 in Scotland, Robert Proctor came to Christchurch, NZ, in 1886. He studied at the Canterbury School of Fine Art, and with Petres Van der Velden. He taught & exhibited around Christchurch most of his career, but moved to Melbourne in 1928 where he died in 1931. This work was recently purchased in Melbourne.
His style is quite impressionistic in style, and carries a sense of serenity.
