The distinct manner of sprigging seen on these bowls relates to a pair in the book ‘Blanc de Chine’ (Kerr & Ayers 2002) #147; these are identical to a pair in the Rosenberg Collection, Geelong, and in turn relate to similar ones recovered from the Hatcher wreck (circa 1643).
In particular, the small applied beads of clay are distinctive, and the hand-modelled stems which differ greatly from each other.
