good condition with minor signs of age
ref. TCC catalogue 5919 for an example, from the Copeland Spode period and dated 1883. It bears the pattern number 4155, meaning this example was 45 patterns later in the pattern book. There is a major difference between 4155 and 4200 – the first has gold details, this example has yellow instead!
The pattern name is very misleading: there is nothing even slightly ‘Etruscan’ about the design, which is vaguely based on a Chinese Export ‘Fitzhugh’ style. The ‘trophies’ are based on Chinese art’s use of ‘Precious Objects’, hence the scroll (paintings), vases, and caligraphy boxes.
