Staffordshire pottery ‘umbrella’ group, modelled as a couple in an embrace beneath an umbrella.
Circa 1850.

Condition: the umbrella a restoration, otherwise good.
ref. Harding vol.1 fig.1497 for an exact one, minus the umbrella – and grouped amongst the ‘dancers’ without any reference to the loss of an umbrella…..
There is also a similarity to the group of Queen Victoria & Albert beneath an umbrella – although they would NEVER have been depicted being so intimate as this!
